I have enjoyed doing the weekly PRABE. I did this for my Introduction to Reading as well. I did not have as much time to read this time around. Doing the PRABE reminds me that reading is something that I miss doing. Sometimes it is hard to find the time to do it but, it something that I would like to continue trying to do. I plan on continuing to read at least 90 minutes a week. I think continuing this will be helpful. I think I will be able to do this after the holidays. I currently work but, I will not returning after the holidays. I am hoping that this will give me more time to focus on school, reading, and my family. I am excited to be able to have more free time to do what I need to do to better myself and finish school.
Skeeter has now started to interview many of the maids. Although they fear somebody may find out, they do it anyway. They have started to tell Skeeter what their life is like. During the interviews a lot happens with the maids. Skeeter eventually finds out that her childhood maid, Constantine, dies after moving to Chicago. Celia also admits to Minny that she has had four miscarriages and is afraid that Johnny will leave her if she cant have kids. Celia continues to try to be friends with the women in Junior League.  After Skeeter has finished she publishes it and gives it the title "Help". Skeeter is offered a job in New York and accepts it, only after convincing her boss to let Aiblileen take over the Miss Myrna column. Aibileen is fired but is excited to start a new job.

Skeeter continues to interview Aibileen. She finds out about her family when she was little. Aibileen also tells her son dying as well. Aibileen has now told Minny about the interviews. Minny decides that she will talk to Skeeter too. Skeeter asks Aibileen to find more maids that want to talk about their lives. Skeeter wanted to learn more about how they are treated at their jobs and how their lives are so much different. Skeeter has been gone every night interviewing Minny and Aibileen. Her mother started to wonder where she is, Skeeter does not want anyone to find out.

Skeeter is is still trying to convince Aibileen to do an interview with her for an article. Aibilieen decides she will do it. She tells Minny about it and she is not happy. Minny has been working at Celias still. Celia has been sick but Minny is not sure what is wrong with her. Minny is cleaning the house when Celia's husband walks in with an axe. Minny thinks that he is going to kill her. He tells Minny that he already knew about her. He tells Minny to let Celia keep thinking that  he doesnt know about Minny. He lets Minny know that he knew when the house was clean and the food was better.

Skeeter has found a job at the local newspaper. When is writing for the Dear Myrna column. She has been thinking a lot about what has happened to her old maid that she had when she was little. When she returned from college she was gone. She has started asking Aibileen questions. The next chapter is narrated my Aibilene again. She still taking care of Mae. Mae gets little attention from her mom. Mae goes potty in Aibileen's outside bathroom. When Mae's mom finds out she hits her and tells her that she will get a disease. Skeeter has approached Aibileen again and wants to ask her more questions about what happens as a maid. She is trying to convince Aibileen into having the other maids talk as well. Aibileen is very reluctant because they could lose their jobs.

This week I did not get around to reading my book. I did read an interesting article about daylight savings time. While discussing daylight savings time with some friends, I found out that not every country does this. This whole time I have always though it was something that was world wide. It turns out that only the European Union a d about 35 other countries participate. DST started in 1966 in the United States. There are many countries that have used DST and stopped using it as well. Each year there are new countries that use DST. I am amazed that it is something that is not used everywhere.

The next chapter in "The Help" is from Minny's point of view. Minny is Aibilene's friend who has an attitude. She has just started working for Miss Celia. During her first week at the house she is cleaning a lot. She describes the house as very dirty. It is obvious the Miss Celia does not do much cooking or cleaning. Even though Miss Celia does not do much, she wants to, she just does not know how. Minny is starting to teach her how to cook now. Chapter five changes point of view to Miss skeeter. Miss Skeeter is the daughter of Mrs. Charlotte Boudreaux. She has just returned form college. Miss Skeeter is different from the rest of the women. She has an education and she wants to work. She doesn't want to get married, have children, and hire maids. She is very independent and wants to keep it that way. Her mother on the hand, does not like this idea.
